The first preview of Killbot was uploaded by Lithifusion on June 15, 2017. In the video description, he said he planned for the level to have lots of tricks and deception and contain many disturbing messages.[1] On July 20, 2017, Lithifusion uploaded a montage that showcased most of the level's decoration.[2] At the time, DollarC was accepting Extreme Demons to his channel and featuring the best ones. Lithifusion sent Killbot to DollarC, who was so amazed that he uploaded the video on his channel. Many people considered the level "God Eater-tier," meaning a rival for the title of best level ever. On September 6, 2017, it was decided that the song, not being available for download on Newgrounds, would replace Sweet Dreams by NIGHTkilla.
The level starts with a mini ball segment with sudden speed changes between half and triple-speed and difficult timings. Then, it changes to a mini spider segment with the same styled gameplay as the ball part. During these two segments, the Killbot is installing in the background. Then, it turns into an auto cube section representing the downloading of the Killbot. After that, the music beat drops, and the player enters a triple-speed cube section, similar to a part in Fake A Doom. After that, a three-second auto segment comes next.

First, you have the Robot Wanting to escape the factory, with the usual gap-jumping and button-pressing that implies. Then there's the Portal-esque snarky narration and Gravity Gun-styled telekinesis. There's the hand-drawn-on-a-notebook aesthetic that's a mix of Fancy Pants Man and Salad Fingers. Finally, there's the techno album by US Killbotics that the game is somewhat aggressive in plugging, and for which free download codes are offered throughout. All these competing influences, combined with glitchy controls, end up making Killbot feel like kind of a mess, though a very engaging one. It's clear that the developers have a lot of cool ideas to bring to flash gaming, and the refinement of the craft is certain to come with further releases. All in all, Killbot is a cool debut, and one worth killing some time on.
